Metrics
- Total Assets — Total assets as reported at the quarter end (Call Report item 2170), a point-in-time balance.
- Total Deposits — Total deposits as reported at the quarter end (Call Report item 2200), a point-in-time balance.
- Total Loans and Leases — Total loans and lease financing receivables at the quarter end (Call Report item 2122), a point-in-time balance.
- Net Income (year to date) — Net income as reported year to date (Call Report item RIAD4340). Call Report income statements are cumulative within the calendar year: a Q2 figure covers six months, a Q4 figure twelve. Not annualized — every institution in a quarter shares the same window, so the percentiles are comparable.
- Equity Capital / Total Assets — Bank equity capital (item 3210) divided by total assets (item 2170), both at the quarter end.
- Loans / Deposits — Total loans and leases (item 2122) divided by total deposits (item 2200), both at the quarter end.
- Loan Loss Reserve / Loans — Allowance for loan and lease losses (item 3123) divided by total loans and leases (item 2122), both at the quarter end. This is the reserve a bank has already set aside — it is NOT a realized loss rate and NOT a non-performing loan ratio.
- Return on Assets (annualized) — Year-to-date net income (RIAD4340), annualized by multiplying with 4 / quarter number, divided by total assets at the quarter end (item 2170).
- Return on Equity (annualized) — Year-to-date net income (RIAD4340), annualized by multiplying with 4 / quarter number, divided by bank equity capital at the quarter end (item 3210).
- Net Interest Income / Assets (annualized) — Year-to-date net interest income (RIAD4074), annualized by multiplying with 4 / quarter number, divided by total assets at the quarter end (item 2170). Reported on total assets, not on average earning assets — it is therefore slightly below the classic net interest margin and is labelled accordingly.
- Efficiency Ratio — Year-to-date noninterest expense (RIAD4093) divided by the sum of year-to-date net interest income (RIAD4074) and noninterest income (RIAD4079). Both sides cover the same window, so no annualization is applied. Lower is better.
