The Welder I performs highly skilled welding and fabrication work on various metals, including exotic metals and new alloys. This position requires expertise in welding thin-wall materials, producing full-penetration welds, and completing work that meets stringent nondestructive inspection standards. DUTIES Fuses all types and thicknesses of metal parts together, including exotic metals by means of an electric welding apparatus Welds products, which must qualify under all inspection techniques such as nondestructive inspection techniques such as radiography and fluorescent penetrant and the use of purging chambers. Performs all types of welds in all positions by heliarc and metallic arc processes. Assists in the development of new and improved welding and joining techniques.
