The Protective Services Officer – 2 (PSO2) is an armed security professional primarily assigned to a designated security zone containing one or more controlled entry points. PSO2 maintains a continuous armed presence within the assigned zone and is responsible for access control, screening operations, deterrence, and prevention of unauthorized entry. PSO2 personnel focus on monitoring controlled areas, detecting prohibited items, verifying credentials, and maintaining a visible and professional security presence. Their primary responsibility is to maintain an armed presence at, or in close proximity to, their assigned entrance to ensure consistent access control and screening. As a secondary function, PSO2 personnel may conduct limited roving within their assigned zone-based area.
