Unemployment, employment and the size of the labor force for every US county that BLS reports, back to 1990. Two things to know before using a ranking here: the county figures are model-based estimates benchmarked so the counties of a state sum to the state total, and they are not seasonally adjusted — which is why only annual averages appear as benchmarks. A ranking of a single month would sort counties by their harvest and tourist seasons.
A high unemployment rate is the worse outcome, and a high labor force mostly means a populous county. Each ranking page says which it is, because “rank 1” reads like a win and here it is not.
Measures
The median is across all reporting counties; the range is the 10th to 90th percentile. Follow a measure for its full ranking, and each row there for the underlying fact.
